This is my entry for :iconsailor-stars:’s “Sailor World Project”.

Information about the project: [link]

:star: STATS:
:bulletyellow: Name: Luz Marina Martínez Rodriguez (1).
:bulletyellow: Height: 1.72m (5f , 6in).
:bulletyellow: Weight: 62kg (136 pounds).
:bulletyellow: Birth date: July 20th, 1810.
:bulletyellow: City of Birth: Bogota.
:bulletyellow: Stone: Emerald.
:bulletyellow: Metal: Gold.

:star: PERSONAL INFORMATION:
:bulletblue: Favorite color: Yellow.
:bulletblue: Favorite meal: “Sancocho santafereño” and “Bandeja paisa”.
:bulletblue: Likes: art, literature, music, and science.
:bulletblue: Dislikes: internal disorders, messy neighbors.
:bulletblue: Fear: communist dictators.
:bulletblue: Dream: Peace.

:star: ATTACKS:
:bulletred: Magic Yellow Butterflies: Yellow butterflies materialize from the ether and surround the enemy in a chaotic whirlpool.
:bulletred: Internal commotion state: Used mainly as defense. A flash of light from her tiara’s emerald generates a defense shield around her or anything surrounding her. Anything trying to trespass it suffers certain death.
:bulletred: Democratic Security Scream: a loud scream while hitting the ground with fists of rage unleashes a fire wave that destroys everything in a radius of several hundred meters.

:star: Brief notes on design:
:bulletgreen: The gold and emeralds in her tiara and gloves represent Colombia’s natural richness in those resources. Colombian emeralds are recognized as one of the finest in the world, and Colombian gold crafts are regarded as excellent works.
:bulletgreen: The choker is an original design inspired in several pre-columbian cultures who worked gold.
:bulletgreen: The ear-rings design was taken from the pre-columbian Muisca culture, whose people is almost extinct today.
:bulletgreen: The brooch of the front bow is actually a slightly modified design from the ancient golden Quimbaya culture that portrays a shaman, but I added the jaguar mouth which is also traditional to several ancient Colombian cultures.
:bulletgreen: The golden accessory of the rear bow is part of a ritual mask from the Cauca pre-columbian culture.
(All those designs and some characteristics of each culture can be found at: [link] by browsing the links at the very bottom of the page)

:bulletorange: The frills of the collar, and the layered frilled skirts are loosely inspired by the female dresses used to dance bambuco [link] which I believe is one of the most representative dances of Colombia along with the traditional cumbia [link] .
:bulletorange: The jewel in the boots is a golden coffee bean, representing the excellence of the Colombian famous drink.
:bulletorange: The bird in the front of her skirt is an Andean Condor, an endangered species which is the national bird of Colombia and is present in the country’s coat of arms.
:bulletorange: The yellow butterflies are recycled from a drawing I made a couple of years ago but have not published yet. And they are a reference to a very-well known Colombian writer. Do you know who is it?

:bulletpurple: The coat of arms was taken from the official information site of the Government, and the flag was drawn by hand.
:bulletpurple: The blue map is a free resource taken from: [link]
:bulletpurple: The grey background is a simple colour gradient made in Photoshop.

:star: Tools:
:bulletblack: Mouse
:bulletblack: SAI Paint tool (lineart)
:bulletblack: Photoshop CS3 (digital colour)
:bulletblack: Winamp

:star: Personal notes:
My hand still hurts like hell, but I needed to do this. So I decided to make it in the easiest and fastest possible way to save time and pain.

Unlike many of my other digital colourings the lineart only took me one day and the colouring took me only two days (if you’ve followed me for a while you surely know a lineart usually takes me a month, and the colour can span anywhere between 2 to 6 months and even more).

I have mixed feelings with this piece, since I learned a new way of working that actually serves my purposes but I also feel it is lacking something. And since no references were used I’m really unsure about the body proportions.
